My name is Muss, and this site exists because of a number: 450.
That was my blood sugar the day I found out I had type 2 diabetes. I’m a black 49 yo father of four that weight train three times a week and compete as a powerlifter recently. I eat pretty clean for the most part with foods like fish, chicken and no sodas or foods with added sugar. There’s no type 2 in my family that I ever knew about and nobody had prepared me for the moment a doctor told me to get to the ER immediately.
I built this site for the version of me who walked out of that appointment with a diagnosis and no idea what came next. That’s what New To Type 2 Diabetes is: real answers and resources for those newly diagnosed with diabetes and for anyone who wants to understand their numbers before they get to where I did. I do not focus on fear-mongering, promises of miracle cures or “reversals.” Just honest information, community, and the guidance I wish someone had handed me on day one. So I lead my life with the motto-
Know more. Live fully.
Nothing on this site is medical advice. I share lived experience and vetted resources but always work with your own care team on decisions about your health.
